Rwanda double gorilla trekking safari holiday is one of the finest gorilla safari holiday in the world as you get face to face twice with the endangered mountains in their natural habitat. This safari holiday is a fully escorted and guided tour through Rwanda features lands of rolling hills, lakes, rain forests and jungles, gorillas and other primates, butterflies and plentiful birds. This trip is a once in a lifetime, life changing experience that is worth every penny.
Before this trip all I knew is that Rwanda was a country steeped in beauty and with history of unrest and tragedy. I trekked for two different days and I was recommended by my friends who traveled 3 years ago, and I definitely got interested. From my first email to inquire about a booking, Jackie from Rwanda Gorilla Safaris was exceptionally responsive to all of my questions and requests right up until literally minutes before my departure to Kigali to my arrival in Kigali with my safari guide Baker.
This trip took us from Kigali and the busy markets, where we were taken to the coolest local stands, to the genocide memorial and museum, after we were taken to our Hotel in Kigali called Grand Legacy Hotel for dinner and overnight and to relax and prepare for tomorrow’s experience.
Very early in the morning after breakfast, my guide Baker picked me up at my Hotel in Kigali around 8:30am and then we drove about 2 hours to the Volcanoes National Park for my double gorilla trekking safari. The drive was gorgeous once the sun came up, we go there and they had coffee for us and there was a welcome dance from the local village people. After the dance, we started getting into groups of 8 per gorilla family group and we were doing the medium hike.
Our ranger guide briefed us about the gorilla rules and the forest and gave us walking sticks which were of great help. I highly recommend getting a porter, he will carry you bag and is a great help getting through all the mud. The hike was challenging, it us 4 hours to see the Monfunzo family.
I was amazed how gentle the gorillas were and they really didn’t care that we were there. It was amazing watching them and you are only with them for only one hour and it goes so fast. Overall we had a great time on our first gorilla adventure. The trek is expensive but it’s a once in a lifetime experience.
Still on my second gorilla trekking adventure I went through the same procedure of briefing and I was allocated another different a gorilla group to track. After this amazing experience, I was transferred to Lake Kivu where I spent my night at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. After the morning breakfast, I went for a boat cruise at the lake as I enjoyed the cool breathes from fresh waters of the Lake Kivu. After I transferred back to Kigali for my flight back home, I recommend Rwanda Gorillas Safaris for the wonderful services it offers to its clients.
