It was such a bright morning that we set off to Bwindi Forest Impenetrable National Park from Kampala. This was a 3 Days Gorilla Habituation Safari to go and enjoy the endangered creatures in this park. Day one was a traveling day to the park but it was really a memorable journey, we got a stopover at the equator of Uganda in Kayabwe, Mpigi District. At this point, we were able to take amazing photo shots in all angels of our choice without any limitations making it an enjoyable journey. What impressed me most was the Igongo Cultural Centre where we found all sorts of the Ankore cultural items like Neck less, Bags, Bitegi wears and many more.
It was at this centre that we took our African cuisine lunch with all traditional dishes. Back to our journey where we finally rested at Nkuringo Gorilla Camp. At this point in time, resting was the only solution to refresh for the very early morning full day gorilla habituation experience.
Early morning at 6 am we took breakfast, with our passports and gorilla permits ready to go and meet the endangered girls and boys of Bikingi family. By 7am sharp, we were at the head offices of Bwindi forest at Rushaga sector for the briefing about the gorillas and the forest as well, after we started the walk into the jungle to look for the gorillas and when we met them we took a lot of photos and videos and as we were to stay with them the full day we enjoyed this experience.
On this full day experience with the gorillas in the mist, there is much more to experience like birds, monkeys, canopies and Bwindi forest offers a lot of fruits leaving no doubt for the feeding of the Bikingi family. In this group, we found more nests satisfying where they take a rest be it night or day. It was at 5.30 pm that we were in memories after the experience and from the forest back to Nkuringo Gorilla Camp but it was an unforgettable move in Bwindi Forests Impenetrable National Park with the mountain gorillas.
Back to the camp where we got our refreshment and got a rest of an hour, viewing for the Kikiga and Batwa historic life style. For sure the African setting of the camp reined all my thoughts to extending my stay in this camp and hike to the top of the world, memorable it was. After this activity, we went for lunch and there after night resting in the self contained camp cottage where you sleep and do not think of waking up the next day. I couldn’t imagine, and then on last day (4th) we had to travel back to Kampala with en-route hot lunch to be able to catch up with our late in the evening flight back home. It was an enjoyable, learning and memorable gorilla safari with Rwanda Gorilla safaris leaving us with no regret for the $ 1500 USD per person for the permit we paid for this safari as well as, thanks to Jackie – Tour Consultant, being so knowledgeable arranging us this great experience in Uganda.
More so if you are in Rwanda and you want to have this great experience “Gorilla Habituation Experience” in Uganda we have scheduled trips that starts from Kigali or any other town of Rwanda and we can pick you up from there and transfer you to Bwindi Forest Impenetrable National Park for your safari.
